Our three workshops Dinosaur Discovery, Animal Match and Scary Bones and the Pirates of Brownsea Island were written specifically for Key Stage 1.
The musical elements of our workshops are developed from the Model Music Curriculum. We use singing (including warm ups) as the key musical activity to highlight pitch, dynamics and tempo and provide access to all songs prior to the workshop. There is an instrument demonstration from the lead musician (usually a trombone) and plenty of movement and body percussion to support pulse and rhythm awareness.
The use of storytelling and dramatic activities helps create a sense of performance and occasion as well as drawing in cross curricular material to create a meaningful experience.
